Bullguard is an all-encompassing security suite that is all-encompassing. It’s not as comprehensive but it’s an excellent option for those looking to make the most of their anti-virus software. It’s also extremely efficient by avoiding the burden of heavy load on the system while providing various options to help reduce the load when necessary.

The program opens to a modular hub application which has a tiled layout for its various modules, such as antivirus, firewall, PC tune up game booster, and home network scanner. Those looking to monitor their system for weaknesses will be pleased with the “Vulnerabilities” section that will alert them to things like missing Windows updates autostart services, open ports. Gamers will appreciate the “Game Booster” feature helpful, since it can detect when you’re playing, and will automatically optimize your system.

In our tests, bullguard was pretty effective at preventing malware infections, and was fairly light on system resources in comparison to most competing products in terms of CPU usage. However, we did notice that the antivirus’s background processes took up quite a bit of RAM, particularly on machines with limited available memory. Additionally, certain elements of the hub application looked at a low resolution and appeared pixelated.

Bullguard’s Premium Protection subscription offers a mobile component that provides parental controls, antitheft, and basic backup support for your smartphone or tablet. The app is a bit basic and does not include some vital features, such as webcam security or shredders for files. Likewise, phone support is only offered via live chat or email.
